Overview

Sherpa Trailblazers 12 Day Manaslu Circuit Trek is a great way to visit one of Nepal’s most remote areas and be one of the most rewarding off-the-beaten-path trekking experiences. The world’s eighth-highest peak forms the center point of this trek. You will walk through the many villages and monasteries that line the trail, experience gorges carved out by the rushing rivers, and take in the breathtaking views of the mountains that tower over you. The challenging terrain of the Himalayas, the remote Tibetan culture, and the Buddhism that has been practiced in the villages you will pass around the Manaslu Circuit is much less crowded than the Everest and the Annapurna trekking routes.

Your adventure will begin with a scenic drive along the Kathmandu-Machha Khola route. The trekking path will follow the rushing Budhi Gandaki River through lush forests and charming traditional villages. The Tibetan culture will begin to take the place of the Hindu culture as you gain elevation. Along the circuit, you will find many of the villages that practice this form of Buddhism. You will be greeted by prayer wheels, mani walls, and warm Sherpa and Tibetan hospitality in Namrung, Lho, Samagaon, and Samdo.

The team at Sherpa Trailblazers know time needs to be taken at higher elevations to avoid altitude sickness. This is the purpose of the acclimatization days as well, allowing you to explore nearby attractions like Birendra Lake, Manaslu Base Camp, and the historic Pungyen Monastery.

The crossing of 5,160m (16,000ft) Larkya La Pass is a highlight of this trek. Rising pre-dawn from Dharmasala, trekkers are rewarded with 360 degree views at the top of the pass. From Larkya La, the formidable views include Manaslu, Himlung, Cheo, Kang Guru, Annapurna II and endless other snow capped peaks. There is no doubt that the trek to Larkya La is one of the most inspiring and challenging experiences to be had in the Himalayas.

After crossing the pass, the trail leads downwards to the stunning Annapurna Conservation Area, where the landscape transitions to colourful villages, and valleys open and close with lush green pine forests, all the way to Dharapani before you return to Kathmandu with the memories of a lifetime from one of Nepal’s most extraordinary trekking experiences.

Where else could you find high-altitude adventure, fascinating culture, and serene trekking away from the hustle and bustle in one place? The 12 Days Circuit Trek of Manaslu with Sherpa Trailblazers has it all with breathtaking views and true Himalayan spirit. Taking you through previously untouched areas of the Himalayas, active local guides focus on the journey rather than the destination, ensuring safety with the utmost comfort and personalisation, and all with the added peace of mind that trekking in Nepal warrants.

Essential Information

Best season for manaslu circuit trek

Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best seasons to make the Manaslu Circuit trek. Contemplating the weather, these are the best seasons to view the mountains, while also enjoying a stable weather system. In addition, Rhododendrons will bloom in the spring, and Autumn will have the crisp air to support visibility. Both of these factors improve the Autumn and Spring seasons for trekking.

Difficulty Level

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is classified as a moderately challenging trek requiring a reasonable level of fitness due to long days of hiking and steep ascents, as well as crossing the high altitude Larkya La Pass (5,160 m). With the right preparation, the trek is likely to be successful. Sherpa Trailblazers specializes in trekking expeditions and can help you achieve your trekking goals.

Elevation and Distance

This trek is a walking distance of 160–170 km (100–105 miles) over 12 days, starting in Machha Khola (930 m) and finishing with a maximum elevation in Larkya La Pass (5,160 m). The trek has been designed with a gradual elevation gain to help trekkers acclimatize as well as to highlight the different landscapes with beautiful views of the mountains.

Altitude Sickness

The risk of altitude sickness is a concern for all treks which exceed 5,000 meters. Sherpa Trailblazers alleviates this concern by implementing an acclimatization strategy, encouraging trekkers to drink plenty of water, and monitoring each trekker during the trek.

Maximum/Minimum Walking Hours

The number of hours trekking each day is between 5 and 9, largely determined by the trekking schedule. The day crossing the high pass is the longest, whereas other days allow plenty of time to enjoy the natural beauty and local culture.

Accommodation

You will stay overnight in a local teahouse, providing a twin-shared room, a cozy atmosphere, clean facilities, and great hospitality. The higher you go, the more facilities become basic. But the mountains provide a great experience. You will enjoy APB (Authentic Peak Breathtaking) hospitality!

Food & Drinks

The teahouses provide a variety of options to choose from. Dal Bhat, noodles, fried rice, soup, pasta, eggs, Tibetan bread, and many more. Different varieties of tea and coffee, as well as other hot drinks, are available. To keep up energy on the trek, drink plenty of water and eat nutritious meals.

Preparation and Fitness

Your trekking experience will definitely be enriched by regular exercise, specifically hiking, jogging, cycling, or stair climbing for several weeks before your trek to build endurance for the trekking days, especially those at high altitudes.
