Somden was born in the Mountainous Region of Nepal, and spending his childhood there helped consolidate his love of nature and trekking and mountaineering.
At 16, he began working in Nepal’s adventure and tourism sectors, and he has never looked back. He has worked professionally as a trekking and climbing guide in Nepal, and he currently has over 10 years of experience in leading treks, peaks, and Himalayan adventures.
At 19, he achieved one of his long-term dreams when he summited Mount Everest. Since then, he has taken part in multiple high-altitude expeditions, including climbing Everest, Lhotse, and Manaslu. These expeditions have aided him in developing skills in mountain guiding, expedition planning, and safety as well as leading expeditions.
He has guided many international travellers in climbing Nepal’s mountains and trekking in its valleys. Somden has trekked in most of Nepal’s trails and has vast experience in areas that include, but are not limited to, Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, Annapurna Base Camp, Langtang Valley, Mardi Himal, Pikey Peak, and climbing Mera Peak, Island Peak, Lobuche East, Yala Peak, to name a few.
As the Founder and CEO of Sherpa Trailblazers, Somden has been able to achieve his dream of providing trekkers with safe, fun, and unique trekking experiences in the Himalayas. With Somden, reaching a trekking destination is only step one. He believes trekkers should experience the culture of Nepal, interact with the locals, and capture memories that last a lifetime.
For these reasons and more, Somden has earned the reputation of being honest, dedicated, and friendly. He wants to make sure every single person he takes on a trek has the peace of mind and utmost confidence to enjoy every part of their adventure. Somden’s team and his commitment to taking adventure travellers and novice trekkers on an adventure of a lifetime are evident in their passion and dedication.
As is well deserved, Somden is as proud to call the Himalayas home as the rest of the world is to visit and appreciate their natural beauties. It is a privilege for him to share his home with the adventure travellers and he makes that clear through his dedication to safe and meaningful trekking experiences in the mountains of Nepal.
